No Wire Hangers EVERRR!!! 'Cept when crafting!

There are two things in this world that scare the poopie right out of me!

ONE: CLOWNS
{thanks to IT by Stephen King}

and TWO: WIRE HANGERS

Do any of you remember Mommie Dearest?
Well I do! ...and let me tell you...it scared the beejeebies out of me!
Every time I see a wire hanger in my house I make a face like this:

source
....you think I'm joking don't you?!?
I wish I was...

Every once in a while Boo~Bear sneaks one of these pesky hangers in with his uniform!
I usually just flip out and throw them away...but recently, I actually used one...for a craft, of course!

My DIY Burlap Wreath!

And since that turned out SO STINKIN' CUTE {imo}
I thought I'd see if there were any other fantastical ideas for these horrifying metal objects!

You know what I found?!?

ALMOST SQUAT!

Of course I found the Flip Flop hangers that have been all over Pinterest for a while now...

and I found a party darned cute Daddy Long Legs!

Thinkin' I'm gonna have to make one of these 8 legged creatures...

But other than these two crafts, I found the norm...wrapping yarn around the hanger...wrapping it in fabric...sliding beads onto it...but all of those are still just hangers!  Using it to snake your drain or unlock your car!  Maybe make a shape or two out of it...but that's about it!

So...I'd like to propose a challenge!

If you have a wire hanger or two hanging around...what would you make out of it?
Or...better yet...what have you made out of it?

Send your ideas to myworldmadebyhand {at} gmail {dot} com...
I'd love to be able to spotlight / feature some new, creative wire hanger crafts.

Anyone up for the challenge?

  1. OMG....when I was scrolling on my dashboard I had just enough of the pic to know whose hair that was.....EEEEKKK!!! I to am terrified of clowns...especially that darn Pennywise the Clown and his pointy sharp teeth. lol!!

    I don't craft with hangers, but I do use them outside with pieces of water hose to hold back top heavy trees.

  2. I knew you were a kindred spirit! I hate clowns & wire hangers too {& movies about scary mothers who hate wire hangers}. But I love the wreath project. And the makeup at the monster high party was amazing.
