DIY Ruffle Tree Skirt
Since Christmas was just a little over a week ago...
and I whipped this craft out just a few days before Christmas...
I thought it wouldn't be TOO irrelevant to post this in January!
...hope you don't mind!
Now...there is a story as to why I needed a new tree skirt!
and Havoc likes to whiz on real Christmas trees!
and last year, we got a real tree for the first time...
and my skirt...and stockings...were under the tree!
So...a new skirt was a must this year!
I was completely inspired by the Ruffle Tree Skirt here...
Since I had thrown my old skirt away I had to make my own base.
I purchased two yards of the cheapest tan felt I could find and cut a center hole about 3 inches wide.
{Note - 2 yards was way too much fabric. Could have gotten away with 1 yard easily}
I already had my tree up at this point...and all I did was put the fabric under the tree
{with the hole around the stem}, measured out as far as I wanted it to go...marked it and cut it.
Sorry...didn't get a pic of this step.
After cutting my fabric into two inch strips {thinking 3 would have been better} I started
HOT GLUING!!!
Here is what it looked like after the first row!
After three rows...
After 14 rows...
If you stare at it long enough you might get a little dizzy! Hehe...
I'm very pleased with my finished product. I think it looks way better than any skirt I could have bought!
What do you think?
