Spray Painting Furniture & Hardware {how to}

As I was perusing KSL Classifieds yesterday I came across this:

For $17!!!
You know I had to have it right?!?
Even with the missing drawer pull...

So I picked it up {10 minutes from my house} and brought it home.
Boo~Bear was due home late last night and I didn't want him to see how ugly this was
{it was a little more beat up than I had hoped}
so I got to work...IMMEDIATELY!

Rather than painting with a brush like I did with my dressers...
I took Mandi's advice and tried the spray paint method!

First I had to wipe off all the grossness...and let me just say...
GROSS!!!
then I pulled out the primer...

which didn't hurt the pocket book at all 'cuz' I had some leftover primer from another project!

I enrolled the help of Twelve Gauge...

Should I worry that he spray painted with immense enthusiasm?!?

And then went to town with my 6 cans of Krylon black!

End result...

Oh ya...forgot to mention that the lost drawer pull was hiding in the drawer {SCORE}!

What do y'all think?
Worth $17 + some paint?

Personalized Notebook {how to / tutorial}

I'm a 'list' kinda gal...
I write everything down...
in no particular order and in no way an organized manner...
and then...
the notebook gets full
and 90% of the book is trash ...
but there are just a few pages that I want to keep...
then what?!?

This is a struggle I've been dealing with
F O R E V E R!!!

Then I saw THIS at less cake {more frosting} and thought...
why didn't I think of that?!?
The thing that caught my attention was the self-adhesive tabs...
P E R F E C T!!!

So I went to the store and thats where I had an AHA moment...
one of those moments where you dance around the store without a care in the world!  You know the kind...

Y'all want to know why I was dancing around the store like a
C R A Z Y person?!?

Cuz I found this...

I know what your thinking!

'Silly Jessica...what's so special about that?!?'

Well, other than the fact that it is uber cute...

it's customizable and you can add and remove sheets as you go!

Go ahead...say it!

AHA!!!

Don't you just love it when stuff like that comes together?!?
{{Oh, BTW, the notebook is an ARC}}

 So...using the cool self-adhesive index tabs by AVERY
used over at
less cake {more frosting}
I made me up some dividers...
ya know...to keep me organized!

I hate my own handwriting so I used a label maker...

I stole some of the labels from Miss Ellie G {aka Lara}...
hope she'll forgive me.

And see...it's filling up fast...

Yes...that is my inspiration for DIVA's room redo...

We're gonna dirty you up...like so...

Then...I'm gonna EAT off of you!

Shhhhhhh...you know you'll like it!

SLURPEES using Kool-Aid {recipe}

Why pay a few buckaroos for a SLURPEE at the SEV when you can make your own...in your own kitchen...whenever you want?!?

All you need is:
1 packet of Kool-Aid
2 cups of club soda
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups crushed ice
and, of course, a blender

Step 1 ~ Blend Kool-Aid, sugar, and 1 cup of the club soda on high until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 2 ~ Add the ice and blend until the mixture is smooth.

Step 3 ~ Add remaining cup of club soda and blend away...mixture should be similar to that in the picture.

Step 4 ~ Pour mixture into glasses and put in freezer for 30  minutes.

Step 5 ~ Yell at your kids to stop opening the freezer to see if they are done yet!!!

Step 6 ~ SLURP!!!

And what do the kidlets have to say about these?

"Mom...these are the best SLURPEES I've EVER had!!"
{word for word}

And...got this just 20 minutes after they had their first...

{yes, my kids have cell phones}

PAV {product review}

**Product Reviews done at My World Made by Hand are not paid advertisements. BEWARE!!!

If you get grossed out easily you probably don't want to look at these pictures...
they involve blood and gore...and BAD skin!

Have you ever heard of PAV?

Source
Well, I hadn't either until last year when one of these...

Collided with my head...

Y'all should know that I had been camping for a few days and hadn't had a shower...I was yucky!

How did this happen you ask?  Well, let's just say that DIVA was trying to skip rocks and has REALLY bad aim!  And, lucky for me, I was sitting in the perfect spot!

After getting two layers of stitches I realized that I was going to have a pretty nasty scar on my face!

My pa-in-law gave me a little container of PAV and said...used this!  So I did...you can see the goop on the stitches in this picture.

You can see that it was a pretty bad owie...and the cut is really purple.
I did what the PIL told me and kept applying it...and kept applying it...and by the time the stitches came out this is what it looked like...

Not too bed eh?  Well except for the horrible green coloring I've got going on!

Now, almost a year later {and, yes, I still apply it...especially when I go out in the sun} it looks like this:

Yes, this is with NO make-up on...and No, that is NOT gray hair!

I highly recommend purchasing some PAV and keeping it on hand!  It's awesome for not only scars but for acne, burns, warts, insect bites, stings, rashes, and fungus {sounds lovely right?!?}.

Note ~ I have a 1/4 oz. of PAV {not Super PAV} and I've had it for almost a year.  I'm just now getting to the point where I need more and I have used it several times.
I will be buying a 2 oz. container for future use.

Seriously...this goop works!
