Duck Tape Roses {tutorial}

This is my kind of
gArDeNiNg....

Especially since I was able to sit down with my
baby TwEeN
and spend some fun, quality time...

You'll need:

Duck tape
{ 1 green and whatever colors you want your roses }
Scissors
Pens
{ you can also use straws if you don't want pens }

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut a strip of green just a tad bit longer than your pen

Step 2: Wrap around pen
{ leave the tip visible }

Step 3: Cut off excess green
{ be sure to leave at least 1/4 inch  of excess green }

Step 4: Cut a 2 to 3 inch square out of your choice of colored duct tape and fold corner in.

Step 5: Fold other corner in.

Step 6: Wrap this around the end of your pen.
{ wrap tight and make sure the green isn't visible through the tip }

You should have something that looks like a rose bud at this point.

Step 7: Cut another square - exactly as you did with the 'bud' and wrap around the tip.
{ work it so that the petal folds out a little }

Step 8: Repeat process, wrapping petals around the pen,  until the rose looks like you want.

I like the way 8 petals look...

Step 9: Cut two pieces of green like you did with the petals.  Fold like you did the petals.  These will be your leaves.  Wrap around the base of the flower.
{ this will cover the mess you made of the base }

And voila...a functional, beautiful
Duck Tape Rose

Now...have fun with it...
and plant a GaRdEn!!!
