How to make bulky wooden candlesticks

You'll need:
(4)  3 3/4 Rosettes ~ 2 for each candlestick
(2)  2 3/4 Rosettes ~ 1 for each candlestick
(1)  21 1/4 Pine table leg ~ for larger candlestick
(1)  15 1/4 Pine table leg ~ for smaller candlestick
Wood glue
(4) Size 6D steel nails
(2) Size 8D steel nails
Hammer
Spray paint, 1 can should do the trick

Instructions:

 1. Spread wood glue on the top of one of the 2 3/4 (smaller) rosettes.  Be generous.

2. Mount one of the pine table legs onto this piece.  The biggest/widest part of the pine leg is the bottom.  Push down.  Glue will ooze out, don't worry, simply wipe away with a paper towel before it dries.

3. Nail in one of the size 6D steel nails to make piece more secure.

4. Spread wood glue on the bottom of the rosette you just attached to the pine leg.  Again, be generous.

5. Attach one of the 3 3/4 (larger) rosettes.

6. Nail in one of the size 8D steel nails to make piece more secure.

7. Spread glue on the top of the pine leg (the narrowest end).  I've taken a picture of my gooey mess so you can see just how much glue pushes out.  Just be sure to wipe it off before it dries.

8. Nail in one of the size 6D steel nails to make piece more secure.  You'll notice I placed the nail directly in the middle.

9.  Repeat process.  You now have two candlesticks...you're almost done!
 10.  Spray Paint.  I used black satin Valspar spray paint.

11. If you'd like, distress edges/corners/and rounded edges with a very coarse sandpaper.

Looks like the candlesticks are done...BUT...the candles kind of look blah!
To spruce the candles up a bit I wrapped some craft twine around them several times finishing it off by tying a simple bow.

 Absolutely LOVING these...
